LC girls' soccer earns road victory

The Lynden Christian girls' soccer team earned a 3-0 victory Monday, Sept. 23, at La Conner in non-conference action.

Livi Vander Griend had a goal in the 23rd minute off an assist by Courtney Hollander and the same duo connected on a goal with Vander Griend putting it in the net in the 63rd minute. The third goal was an own-goal by La Conner off a corner kick by LC's Sara Dougan.

Lynden Christian had a 21-2 shots on goal advantage and Daphnee Manderson stopped two shots as the Lyncs' keeper.

"Physically we were a little bit stronger and we had a little more skill in our attackers than t (La Conner is) use to," LC coach Brent De Ruyter said in a phone interview. "Defensively, we probably communicated and passed out the back better than we have all year."

The Lyncs (2-2-1 overall, 0-2) host Bellingham at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24 in Northwest Conference play.
