Rant: Saddened by lack of respect for dead wildlife

COURTESY TO THE BELLINGHAM HERALDSeptember 23, 2013

While driving north on I-5 on Saturday, my husband and I saw a dead deer on the side of the freeway. Today (Monday) while traveling by the same area, we saw the deer was still there. Because the Humane Society was closed, a recording directed me to call 911, which I did. I was told that it will be picked up sometime this week by the Department of Transportation. I find this to be unsatisfactory. This shows so little respect for such a beautiful animal. I am saddened that this is the best than can be done.
