The Squalicum girls' soccer team tied Jackson 1-1 on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Jackson High School.

Jackson's Kristina Serres scored the games first goal in the 32nd minute off an assist from Olivia Miller.

"We definitley were a little lackluster in the first half," Squalicum coach David Kish said in a phone interview.

The Storm came out with a bit more urgency in the second half, leading to more opportunities and the tying goal by Kim Hazlett.

While the goal was credited to Hazlett, the ball actually ricocheted off a Jackson defender and into the net.

"She was just getting down the line, and she drove the ball in and off a defender," Kish said. "As the game progressed in the second half, we played better."

Squalicum (2-1-1, 1-0-0) plays Lynden in a Northwest Conference matchup Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Lynden.
