Bellingham boys' tennis beats Anacortes

The Bellingham boys' tennis team earned a 5-2 Northwest Conference victory over Anacortes on Friday, Sept. 20, at Anacortes.

Bellingham's Liam Miszczak beat Jared Wigen 6-2, 6-0 in No. 1 singles and Red Raiders coach Steve Chronister said he was impressed with Miszczak's play.

"He beat one of the better players in our league," Chronister said in a phone interview, "so I thought Liam had a real nice day."

The Red Raiders also had wins from Sam Ferguson and Charlie Carmichael in singles play and the doubles teams of Logan Schilder and Nate Pearsall and Chad Cheldelin and Chris Nakatani.

Bellingham plays at the Sehome Crossover, starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21.

Doubles: Kaleb Wigen and Kevin Xue (A) def. Connor Thompson and Nick Nolan (B) 6-2, 7-5; Logan Schilder and Nate Pearsall (B) def. Garrett Manion and Ben Bellusci (A) 6-2, 6-2; Chad Cheldelin and Chris Nakatani (B) def. Hunter Wickman and Cooper Huntley (A) 6-1, 6-0.
