Learn how to join Girl Scouts at Whatcom County meetings

Whatcom County residents are invited to learn how to participate in Girl Scouts at a series of meetings in September and October.

Girl Scouts of Western Washington seeks participants who want to start new troops in the area. Troops require at least five girls and two adult volunteers. Adults don't need to be a parent or have experience with scouting to be a troop leader.

Troops in Whatcom County currently have more than 500 active participants.

Meeting dates and times:

-- Monday, Sept. 23, 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. at Blaine Public Library, 610 3rd St., Blaine.

-- Tuesday, Sept. 24, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Ferndale Public Library, 2007 Cherry St., Ferndale.

-- Wednesday, Oct. 9, 5 to 6 p.m. and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 2117 Walnut St., Bellingham.

Walk-ins are welcome but RSVP requested by contacting meeting organizer Rebecca Souther at 360-658-8083.
