Sehome defeated Sedro-Woolley, 25-19, 25-15, 25-10 on Thursday, Sept. 19, at Sedro-Woolley. Erika Smith led the Mariners with eight kills and four aces in the match.
"We came out and started pretty flat," Sehome coach Kristy White said in a phone interview. "There wasn't much of a rhythm and it caught us off guard. A lot of scrappy balls were coming over the net, (...) but once we caught onto their tendencies, we were fine."
Megan Greer had 24 assists for Sehome, and Casey Grosso added 15 digs. White said the Mariners who came in off the bench, such as Emi Dominguez and Katrina Dank, provided a significant boost to the Sehome attack.
Sehome's next match is at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 24, when the Mariners host Anacortes at Sehome.
