Squalicum, Wong strong versus Archbishop Murphy

The Squalicum girls' swim team defeated Archbishop Murphy 128-58 on Thursday, Sept. 19, at Arne Hanna Aquatic Center.

Sydney Wong came through for the Storm with three state-qualifying times. The events she qualified in are the 200 freestyle, 100 butterfly and 400 freestyle relay.

"She's a tremendous swimmer," Squalicum coach Steve Gibb said in a phone interview.

Josephine Hegeberg also had multiple state-qualifying times, securing her spot in the 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

Maddie Dohm had an individual win in the 500 freestyle, and Shaye Fowler added a win in the 100 freestyle. Fowler and Dohm combined with Wong and Janae Gallant to give Squalicum a win in the 200 freestyle relay.

Abby Vonfeldt added an individual win in the 100 backstroke to go along with her 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay wins.
