Bellingham's girls' soccer team defeated Lynden 2-0 on Thursday, Sept. 19, at Bellingham High School.

Kendra Steele scored the Red Raiders' first goal off a free kick in the fourth minute, followed by Morgan Jones' goal eight minutes later to give Bellingham its 2-0 lead.

"Morgan Jones was really active," Bellingham coach Mark Wright said in a phone interview. "She is one of those kids willing to dig the ball out in the middle of a mix. ... She got us a couple of opportunities we wouldn't have had otherwise."

The Red Raiders held the Lions to just four shots in a solid defensive performance.

"I am proud of my defenders and my keeper for keeping the shutout," Wright said.
