Ferndale girls' cross country defeats Nooksack Valley, Blaine

Ferndale girls' cross country defeated Nooksack Valley and Blaine with a score of 28 points, Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Hovander Park in Ferndale. Blaine's Hillary Kiele won the 5K race with a time of 21:13.

Ferndale's Jillian Anderson came in second with a time of 22:06, followed by teammate Jana Peterson's time of 22:30.

"(Kiele) ran a very, very good race," Ferndale coach Nick Carlson said in a phone interview. "Our girls did great. They were right up there as well."

Nooksack Valley was led by Amy Murphy, who came in at 22:39.

Nooksack Valley will attend the South Whidbey Invite at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, at South Whidbey, while Nooksack Valley and Blaine take the weekend off.
