Panel to discuss gun-related issues Sept. 21 in Bellingham

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDSeptember 18, 2013

BELLINGHAM - The League of Women Voters will host a panel discussion on the Second Amendment and gun safety Saturday morning, Sept. 21, in the Whatcom County Council chambers.

Three panelists - Doug Shepherd, a Bellingham attorney; Dr. Greg Stern, of the Whatcom County Health Department; and John Westerfield, manager of Yeager's Sporting Goods - will speak and field questions about gun issues at 10 a.m. in the chambers, 311 Grand Ave.

It's free and open to the public. Doors open a half-hour in advance.

In light of recent mass shootings and a reignited national debate over gun control, the topic might stir up strong emotions. But organizers hope for "a civil discussion on difficult topics."

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan group open to men and women.
