THE BELLINGHAM HERALDSeptember 18, 2013

After winning its own invitational Saturday, Sept. 14, at Civic Stadium, the Sehome boys' cross country team moved up three spots to claim the No. 1 ranking in the Class 2A Washington State Cross Country Coaches poll.

The Mariners, who were No. 4 last week, replaced Bellingham atop the poll, which slid four spots to No. 5, one spot behind Squalicum, which moved down one place to fourth. No. 2 Lakewood and No. 3 Cedarcrest give the Northwest District the top five teams in the poll.

The district also is well represented in the girls' 2A poll, as Sehome maintained the top spot and was followed by No. 2 Burlington-Edison, No. 3 Bellingham, No. 5 Cedarcrest and No. 6 Lakewood.

Meridian (No. 6), Lynden Christian (No. 7) and Blaine (No. 10) stayed put in the boys' 1A poll behind top-ranked Nine Mile Falls Lakeside. The Lyncs (No. 4) and Trojans (No. 6) also held serve in the 1A girls' poll behind No. 1 Riverside.

Gig Harbor took over the top spot in the 4A boys' poll, while Camas remained atop the girls'. The North Central boys and Glacier Peak girls stayed put at No. 1 in the 3A polls, while the Tri-Cities Prep boys and St. John-Endicott girls continued to hold the top spots in the 2B/1B polls.
