THE BELLINGHAM HERALDSeptember 17, 2013

Coach: Kevin Richins

Last year: Finished 12th at the Northwest Conference Championships. Placed 12th at the Class 2A Northwest District meet.

Returning state participants: None

Others to watch: Thomas Swineford (sr.), Tyler Stokes (sr.)

Outlook: First-year coach Richins said he's already very pleased with the effort the Lions have been putting in during early-season workouts. "We're getting a lot of hard work, but we're able to have a good time at the same time," Richins said. "It's a careful balance between work and fun. I'm proud of them. They have a good attitude, even when they're asked to do something hard. There is a real sense of team for this early in the year." Swineford and Stokes are leading the way for a team with only nine runners. "Success has a lot of definitions," Richins said. "I have a goal that every athlete will succeed by getting healthy, bettering their times and establishing running as part of their lifestyles."
