Wind, rain, thunderstorms expected on Sunday

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDSeptember 14, 2013

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement through Sunday night, Sept. 15, for showers and scattered thunderstorms in Western Washington.

A strong marine wind is expected ahead of the storm system late Sunday morning. Securing loose items like garbage cans and patio items is recommended. Boaters should be especially cautious of windy conditions.

A quarter to a half inch of rain is expected from noon Sunday through Sunday night with some localized areas receiving over an inch, which could cause standing water on roadways and overflow in drainage systems.
