War poems sought for Nov. 10 Bellingham reading

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDSeptember 14, 2013

The community poetry reading series "SpeakEasy" will dedicate its next event to the poetry of the war experience.

Veterans, or friends or family members of veterans, who have a poem they would like to read should submit the poem to othermindpress@gmail.com by Oct 15.

The poem should be no more than two pages long and take no more than three minutes to read. Poems can be an original or one written by someone else. Priority will be given to poems based on personal experience, rather than generalized concepts about war.

About 30 poems will be selected to be read. When people submit a poem, it will be assumed they will be available to read at the event and that their name can be used in promotions.

The reading will be 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at Firehouse Performing Arts Center, 1314 Harris Ave., in Fairhaven. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
