Blaine's girls' soccer team defeated Nooksack Valley 4-1 in a Northwest Conference matchup Thursday, Sept. 12, at Nooksack Elementary. Ashley Quesada led the Borderites with three goals and an assist.
"(Quesada) is a very quick player with good ball skills, and she showed it today," Blaine coach Kelly Tuski said in a phone interview.
Makayah Veliz scored Blaine's other goal and added an assist. Janis DeJager scored the lone goal for Nooksack Valley.
Blaine outshot Nooksack Valley 12-8. Arianna Leyba had seven saves for the Pioneers, while Rhiana Breedlove saved six shots for Blaine.
"(Nooksack Valley) had some feisty players, but I was proud of our defense and the way we handled it," Tuski said. "It was Breedlove's first time in goal, and she did an amazing job."
Blaine's next game is at noon Saturday, Sept. 14, at Granite Falls. Nooksack Valley will take on Mount Baker at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14 at Mount Baker.
