This is a little premature, but word out of the Forest Service officials is theyre trying to get the section of the South Fork downstream from Cow Creek Bridge open to fishing and other recreation by the weekend or possibly next week. Cow Creek Bridge is about 6 miles downstream from Anderson Ranch Dam, and it would open about 5 miles of river near the South Fork road.
The popular fishing stretch on the South Fork between Anderson Ranch Dam and Danskin boat launch has been closed due to recent wildfires, except for the South Fork road. Forest Service crews have been working to cut down dead trees and deal with other hazards that could make the river unsafe for anglers and other recreationists.
The area between Cow Creek Bridge and the dam was burned worse than the downstream section and could remain closed for an extended period, Forest officials said.
