Squalicum falls in fifth set to La Conner

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDSeptember 11, 2013

Squalicum's volleyball team lost 3-2 to La Conner on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at La Conner.

The Storm won two of the first three sets, but fell to Braves in a final-set battle, 18-16.

"If I am going to lose a game, and it is 18-16 in the fifth, it is nothing to be ashamed of," Storm coach Laurie Yearout said in a phone interview. "It was a great first test for us, and it really is going to help us in league."

Yearout was particularly pleased with how her seniors competed against a team as good as La Conner.

"I am really lucky to have nine seniors on my team," she said. "They held their composure really well in a tough game."
