THE BELLINGHAM HERALDSeptember 10, 2013

Organizers for the Lake Padden Trail Half marathon seek volunteers for the race, which takes place at 9 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, at Lake Padden.

More than 50 volunteers are needed to help before and after the race in areas such as assistance with marketing, preparing racer packets, photography, assistance with equipment, race timing, help at each aid station and take down. All volunteers will receive an official 2013 Lake Padden Trail Half T-shirt, a raffle entry for some great prizes, and lunch for their participation.

Proceeds will benefit Rebound of Whatcom County, a local charity dedicated to the children on the fringes of the community.

People interested in volunteering can fill out the volunteer form online at under the Volunteer link.

At 8 a.m. that same Saturday, there will be a free kids 3K (1.86 miles) fun run prior to the Lake Padden Half for children in the 8th grade and younger.
