Two Western Washington University freshmen defenders, Trevor Bartels and Troy McCarty, scored their first collegiate goals and forward Andrew Weishaar had two assists as the Vikings defeated Colorado Christian University, 4-1, on Saturday in men's soccer action at Trailblazer Stadium in Lakewood, Colo.
It was the first collegiate victory for WWU first-year head coach Greg Brisbon, whose team evened its record at 1-1-0. CCU dropped to 0-3-0.
"It was actually a hard game to play because of their style of play," said Brisbon in a news release. "They were really organized, sat in and the field was a little smaller than we're used to. So, we had to be very sharp and accurate in our play."
Tye Hastings and Jeremy Wentzel scored the other two goals.
