Seattle author Ivan Doig reads from his latest book, "Sweet Thunder," at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Village Books, 1200 11th St. Admission is free.
The novel is set in 1921 Butte, Mont., with lead character Morrie Morgan, who debuted in "The Whistling Season" and returned in "Work Song," as the chief editorialist for the Thunder, the upstart newspaper brave enough to challenge the ruthless Anaconda Co. and its stranglehold on the copper boomtown.
