Call center opens to help Washington residents with new health plans

Washington state residents who have questions about getting health care coverage through the new state insurance marketplace can call 1-855-WAFINDER (1-855-923-4633).

By calling the toll-free number, people also can learn about financial help that will be offered to qualifying consumers as part of federal health care reform.

The free service offered by Washington Healthplanfinder began Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Help is available in up to 175 languages, and trained representatives are available 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays.

Consumers also may email customersupport@wahbexchange.org.

Washington Healthplanfinder is the online marketplace that will allow people to find, compare and enroll in health insurance in the state starting Oct. 1 for coverage that begins Jan. 1.

Representatives from community-based organizations throughout the state, including in Whatcom County, are receiving training to also provide help to uninsured residents, beginning Oct. 1.
