Rave: Final donations sought for woman's assist dog

Several weeks ago, The Bellingham Herald published an article and photo of Laurel Raposa who was seeking a multiply trained assist dog. Because she is on a very limited income, the article solicited donations to CanineAngelsServiceDogs.org.

I am pleased to say that Laurel is now in South Carolina being trained with the dog, Holly. However, though many generous donations were sent, we're still about $6,000 short of fully funding the dog.

The trainer has been incredibly generous towards Laurel and has taken on faith that the money will be raised. May I urge the good folks of Bellingham to make a final push and contribute this last bit so that Laurel and Holly can be together. Just be certain to indicate that any donation is for "Laurel" or for "Holly." As Laurel's friend, I've been helping her with this project and can be contacted if there are further questions. My cell phone is 360-220-9002.
