Ferndale accepting items for time capsule at new library

FERNDALE - The city is putting out a call for items for a time capsule at the new Ferndale Public Library, which will have its groundbreaking in September.

Ferndale officials said people should consider items that would explain the city to future residents, or those things that best describe what officials are calling the "City of Opportunity."

Find a list of suggested items at vanderbilt.edu/chronopod/smithsonian.pdf.

Drop off items at City Hall, 2095 Main St., until 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, along with a submission form.

Find that form at cityofferndale.org by clicking on the item about the time capsule, and then selecting "Learn more about the new Ferndale Library project."

Or bring items to the "Let the Building Begin" groundbreaking ceremony 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at City Hall.
