BELLINGHAM - Airport noise issues will be on the agenda Tuesday, Aug. 27, when Port of Bellingham commission candidates appear at a town hall meeting organized by the Birchwood and Columbia neighborhood associations and the Reduce Jet Noise group.

The event begins at 7 p.m. in the Shuksan Middle School cafeteria, 2717 Alderwood Ave. Doors open at 6:30.

Organizers say all four candidates for the two port commission seats are expected to attend and field questions from the audience. The candidates are incumbent Mike McAuley and Ken Bell, seeking the District 2 seat, and Renata Kowalczyk and Dan Robbins, seeking the District 1 seat being vacated by Scott Walker.

Port of Bellingham commissioners have been hearing renewed complaints about noise as air carriers add additional flights.
