BELLINGHAM - Rubber ducks will be floating to the finish line in a charity event and raffle Saturday, Aug. 24, at Maritime Heritage Park.

The owner of the lucky top duck will win $3,500. Other prizes also will be given out, according to the Whatcom County North Rotary Club that is putting on the event.

Ducks will be available starting at noon race day at the park in downtown Bellingham. They cost $5 each or five ducks for $20. In addition to the Rubber Ducky Derby, the event will feature live music and local food vendors. The race starts at 2 p.m.

Proceeds will go to community projects. In the past, these have included the Interfaith Coalition and the Ferndale Boys & Girls Club.
