TEDx Bellingham contest gets first entry (w/video)

TEDx Bellingham organizers said they have received the first entry in their "Here By Choice" video contest.

The 30-second videos are meant to let people express their passion for Bellingham, organizers say. The three videos that receive the most "likes" on Vimeo or YouTube will be part of the conference content at TEDx Bellingham, to be held Nov. 12 at Pickford Film Center.

Videos should be uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo and must be viewable to the public. Videos should be tagged with #HereByChoice & #TEDxBellingham.

TED is a nonprofit organization that supports world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives, including an annual conference that invites leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes.

Here's more information about the local event.

And here's the first entry, submitted by Manny Raid:

Bellingham Herald is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
