Upper Mount Ellinor trailhead access closed

August 18, 2013

The Upper Mount Ellinor Trailhead and Forest Service Road 2419-014 will be closed to public access Tuesday and Wednesday to allow for work at the trailhead.

Olympic National Forest officials said the closure was necessary while construction of a new pre-cast concrete restroom is underway. Heavy equipment will be required to complete the installation, and the road closure is needed to ensure public safety.

Project managers said forest visitors should expect delays at the intersection of Forest Service Roads 24 and 2419 (also known as Big Creek Road) on Wednesday while a crane is in operation.

The area will be reopened as soon as the work has been completed.

The lower trailhead, 4.9 miles from the upper trailhead, will remain open during the work.
