Muds to Suds Race coming to Hovander Homestead Park

Whatcom County's Muds to Suds Mud Race is Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 24-25, starting at 9 a.m. at Hovander Homestead Park, 5299 Nielsen Ave., Ferndale.

There are 22 dirty obstacles -including seven major mud pits -plus a costume contest, a beer-and-root-beer garden, and more. Families can form teams with kids 8 or older. Camping is available Saturday night.

Registration includes a Muds to Suds T-shirt, a beer or root-beer float, bratwurst on a bun, and swag from local companies. Walk-up registration will be available at space allows.

Participants and spectators are welcome either day.

Cost is $35 adults, $25 students, $15 kids, and free for spectators. Proceeds benefit Boys and Girls Club of Whatcom County. Details: 360-746-8861, mudtosuds.com.
