Two armed men break into Bellingham home

BELLINGHAM — Two men with handguns kicked in the door of a Bellingham home late Sunday night, Aug. 11, and shot a car before leaving, according to the Bellingham Police Department.

Police were called to a report of shots fired in the area of East Sunset Drive at about 11:20 p.m. Sunday, where they saw a bullet hole in a car parked in the driveway of a home in the 2800 block.

The residents told police that two people with handguns barged into the back door of the house in search of an acquaintance of the residents. As the two men were leaving, one allegedly fired a round into the fender of a car in the driveway.

The men didn’t take anything from the home, and Sgt. Ken Brown said they knew the residents.

The gunfire was called in by a passer-by; the residents haven’t been fully cooperative with police, Brown said.
