Happy with coal terminal review

COURTESY TO THE BELLINGHAM HERALDAugust 11, 2013

As an avid opponent of the proposed coal port at Cherry Point, I want to commend the authorities who determined that there should be a sweeping review of Gateway Pacific Terminal's environmental impacts. I was not surprised to read that the vice president of coal terminal proponent SSA Marine said that his company was disappointed by this decision, but I have to wonder why. I would think that if they cared about the people and the environment that would be affected, the companies would want as complete a study as possible to assure them, as well as the rest of us, that this project would do no harm.
