Early results in for Blaine, Bellingham primaries

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDAugust 6, 2013

Roxanne Murphy has a commanding lead in the race for a Bellingham City Council race. Bob Burr was in second place with 25 percent of the vote, while Allen Brown has 24 percent, according to early primary results.

The top-two vote-getters in each race of the Tuesday, Aug. 6, primary face off in the November general election.

Bellingham School Board incumbent Steve Smith was well ahead in early counts. John Blethen was in second with nearly 29 percent of the vote, and Hue Beattie was a distant third.

Charlie Hawkins was leading in the Blaine City Council race, followed by Brian Thomasson and then David Gallion. The ballot box in Blaine could hold enough votes yet uncounted to change that.

Stories on each of these races will be posted shortly. To see the results from the Whatcom County Auditor's Office, click here.
