Cole's strong outing not enough; Bells fall 2-1

Bells pitcher Nate Cole tossed seven innings of three-hit ball, but Bellingham still lost to Bend 2-1 during a West Coast League game Saturday, Aug. 3, at Joe Martin Field.

Bend scored both of its runs, which were unearned, in the top of the fifth. Bellingham answered in the bottom of the sixth with an unearned run of its own, but the Bells couldn't push another run across.

Bellingham had nine hits, all of which were singles. Ryan Yamane, Alex Calbick and Eric Angerer each recorded multi-hit games.

The Bells face Bend in the final game of the series at 3:05 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, at Joe Martin Field.
