Don't forget, ballots due by Aug. 6

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDAugust 3, 2013

Have you voted? Registered voters in Blaine and Bellingham need to have their ballots mailed back by Tuesday, Aug. 6.

The post office recommends mailing your ballot no later than Aug. 5 to ensure it is postmarked by Aug. 6.

You also can drop off your ballot at the Blaine Library drop box, 610 3rd St., or the Whatcom County Auditor's Office, 311 Grand Ave., Suite 103. You don't even have to get out of your car if you use the courthouse ballot drop box, which you enter off Grand Avenue between Center and F streets. Drop boxes are open until 8 p.m. on Election Day.

The primary will decide the final two candidates to run in the Nov. 5 general election for the Bellingham City Council at-large seat, Bellingham School District Position 4 director and Blaine City Council Ward 2 seat.

We endorsed Roxanne Murphy and Steve Smith in a July 14 editorial as the candidates best able to legislate in these Bellingham offices.

After the primary, we will turn our attention to the Nov. 5 general election where there will be important decisions to be made for Whatcom County Council and the councils of all seven cities, as well as school and utility districts and the Port of Bellingham. We'll again partner with the League of Women Voters of Bellingham/Whatcom County and the city of Bellingham to sponsor candidate forums.
