Warns about sharing email addresses

COURTESY TO THE BELLINGHAM HERALDAugust 2, 2013

Just a word to the unaware. Candidates for elective office are doorbelling and included in their pitch to you is a request for your email address, ostensibly just to use to remind you to vote. If you don't care to give it then another campaign worker may come back a few days later and in the course of conversation ask for it again. Before you give it, be aware that it may have more uses that just to remind you. Information is valuable and has power. Your URL becomes part of a larger database that may have more uses than you intended.

I would be reluctant to share my email address with someone just knocking on my door!
