A Washington State Patrol trooper had his door dinged up Tuesday afternoon, July 30, when a passing dump truck clipped the door as it was opening.

The trooper had pulled to the right shoulder of I-5 southbound to help a disabled vehicle just north of the Nooksack River at about 1:15 p.m.

He was just getting ready to get out of the car and didn't see the dump truck in his mirror, trooper Mark Francis said. As the trooper opened the car door, the truck's rear tire clipped it.

No charges will be filed against the truck driver, and the trooper will not be investigated, Francis said.
