Rain showers possible Thursday, Friday in Whatcom County

Whatcom County residents might see what's become a rare sight this summer - rain.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a 30 percent chance of showers in the Bellingham area Thursday, Aug. 1, rising to a 50 percent chance Friday. Showers also are possible Friday night.

No measurable rainfall has been recorded at Bellingham International Airport - the official recording site - since mid-July, when 0.05 inch was recorded during a period of hot, humid weather. The last rain before that was recorded June 28, according to the National Weather Service.

Once this possibility of showers passes, high temperatures should remain in the low 70s with no rain expected in the next several days.
