Bellingham Police looking for man who robbed coffee stand

BELLINGHAM - Police are looking for a man who robbed a coffee stand off Lakeway Drive during rush hour Monday, July 29.

An employee at the Cool Beans coffee stand, 320 Lakeway Drive next to the Chevron station, called police at about 5:15 p.m. to report that a man had robbed the stand, Bellingham Police spokesman Mark Young said.

The employee told police that she saw the man standing at the coffee stand window and went over and asked him what she could make for him. The man told her he had a gun, though she didn't see one, and he demanded money, Young said. He walked off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The employee described the man as in his mid-30s, about 6 feet tall, 180 pounds and clean shaven. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue-gray jeans with an orange design on the back pocket and sunglasses.

Police are still investigating the robbery, and anyone with information can call the Bellingham Police Department at 360-778-8800.
