City accepting grant applications for tourism promotion

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDJuly 25, 2013

The city of Bellingham is accepting applications for its 2014 tourism promotion grants, which provide money to help market and promote projects or events that bring tourists to Bellingham.

Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20. The grant is a competitive process and applications are available in the Planning & Community Development Department at Bellingham City Hall, or on the city website at cob.org/services/business/tourism-grants.aspx.

In 2013, the city awarded 18 grants totaling $186,000. Programs and events included Ski to Sea, Bellingham Farmers Market, Bellingham Festival of Music, Spark Museum of Electrical Invention and iDiOM Theater.

Special consideration will be given to events that occur during the off-season (between October and May) and/or that partner with other agencies or events to reduce duplication of activities. Complete program eligibility requirements are in the application packet.

Questions should be directed to Shannon Taysi, Planning & Community Development, at staysi@cob.org or 360-778-8360.
