12 Vikings earn GNAC FAR awards


Twelve Western Washington University student-athletes were named recipients of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Faculty Athletics Representative's Scholar-Athletes award for 2012-13.

The award, which began last year, is presented annually and honors the most outstanding scholar-athletes at each of the GNAC's 10 universities. To qualify, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.85.

WWU student-athletes honored were EmilyBoerger, volleyball, 3.89; Sydney Coffey, track & Field, 3.86; Damien Fisher, basketball, 3.86; Ashton Griffen, soccer, 3.89; Chip Jackson, cross country and track & field, 3.89; Maddy Jalbert, cross country, 3.97; Bailey Jones, volleyball, 3.85; Yvette Kelp, rowing, 3.85; Miranda Lahman, cross country and track & field, 3.85; Trevor Robinson, cross country and track & field, 3.98; Mary Rogers, cross country and track & field, 3.88; and Brianna Rosen, track & field, 3.89.
