Concerned about fireworks enforcement

COURTESY TO THE BELLINGHAM HERALDJuly 24, 2013

It is my impression that fireworks that explode or propel skyward have been banned in Bellingham for some time. If my understanding is correct then the recent action by our city council only adds safe and sane fireworks to this ban. Since the original ban was never enforced (based upon the proliferation of these offending fireworks in the city) I wondered what will change with the new law. I emailed the city council and mayor's office on June 10 to ask what plans will be put in place to enforce the new ban and as of July 17 have not had a single response or acknowledgement.

So, to all of those residents who worked so hard to have the law changed, I would not get my hopes up that anything will change in 2014.
