Richard tossed complete game, leads Post 7 to regional game win

Matt Richard threw a complete game, and Luke Christianson hit a solo home run to help lead the Post 7 Senior American Legion baseball club to a 3-2 win against Yakima during the Senior Legion Regional Tournament Saturday, July 20, in Spokane.

Richard, a Bellingham High product, struck out six hitters and walked two in nine innings of work, not the typical seven.

"He threw a great game," coach Steve Slesk said during a phone interview. "He did a great job."

Brice Longanecker, Cooper Jansen and Brady Shearer each went 2 for 4, and Christianson went 1 for 4 with his homer.

The win advances Post 7 to a winner-on-to-state game against the Spokane Blue Devils at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 21.
