Bellingham earns 2-1 win over Walla Walla


The Bellingham Bells scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to beat Walla Walla 2-1 during a West Coast League game Saturday, July 20, at Walla Walla.

Bells pitcher Chris Van Dyke earned the win, pitching only a third of an inning. Walla Walla's Chris Lovejoy went eight innings, gave up four hits and took the loss.

Following a run by the Sweets in the bottom of the seventh to take a 1-0 lead, Aaron Sandefur drove in two runs with a single during the ensuing inning.

Alex Calbick, Johnny Sewald and Christopher Beall recorded Bellingham's other three hits.

The Bells face Walla Walla in the series finale at 5:05 p.m. Sunday, July 21, in Walla Walla. Bellingham doesn't return home until Tuesday, July 30, when they start a series against Medford.
