Suggests slate for County Council

How do I spell wasteful government spending? T-e-a P-a-r-t-y.

Recently, the House voted for the 37th time on a bill to repeal Obamacare. This bill was reintroduced in the House, with the full knowledge it would never pass a vote in the Senate, or be signed by the president. The cost to taxpayers for this perpetual voting is $55 million.

The purpose is to placate the non-partisan Tea Party that continues to dominate the Republican controlled House.

Locally, we have the same problem with our conservative leaning Whatcom County Council. After spending $100,000 to defend our violating the Growth Management Act, only to lose, they authorized another $40,000 to be spent on attorneys. This money is only a down payment, with more to follow.

Our present County Council only listens to the vocal minority, ignoring the vast majority of us that simply want us to obey the law.

We don't need more flag wavers in office. We need leaders that are willing to listen to all voters.

Vote for Ken Mann, Carl Weimer, Barry Buchanan and Rud Browne for the Whatcom County Council.
