Annual Summerfest celebration Sunday in Van Zandt

VAN ZANDT - The South Fork Valley Community Association's free annual celebration known as Summerfest is set for Sunday afternoon, July 21, at Josh VanderYacht Memorial Park.

The event begins at 1 p.m. with kids arts and crafts in the Van Zandt Hall. Meanwhile, Whatcom County political candidates will be interviewed live on KAVZ 102.5 FM.

At 2 p.m. Everybody's Store will be serving up free Acme Ice Cream cones at the gazebo, followed by a community potluck there at 3 p.m.

The annual reading of the names of youth who have died will be at 4 p.m. Live music from bandZandt starts at 5.

Summerfest is also the association's annual membership drive, so donations are requested. Money raised this year will be go painting the hall inside and out, according to the association.
