Bells earn win over Corvallis


The Corvallis Knights committed six errors and the Bellingham Bells took full advantage in a 4-3 West Coast League victory Monday, July 15, at Joe Martin Field.

All four Bells runs were unearned in the victory.

Jason Hager gave up 10 hits and three runs in 7 2/3 innings. Marc Huberman pitched 1 1/3 inning in relief to earn the win.

Jake Schroeder, a Ferndale High School graduate who is entering his sophomore year at Washington State, was the starting pitcher for Corvallis.

Schroeder gave up three runs and six hits in 6 1/3 innings but didn't take the loss.

On Sunday, the Bells pounded out 18 hits in an 11-5 victory at Cowlitz.

Jake Bailey had four runs batted in and two doubles, Ryan Yamane had three RBI, Johnny Farrington had two doubles and two RBI, and Christopher Beall added two RBI and a double.

Jake Ehret pitched 3 2/3 innings of relief to earn the victory.
