The average price for a gallon of gasoline in Bellingham jumped 15 cents in the past week, according to AAA Washington.
The average price in Bellingham on Monday, July 15, was $3.99 a gallon, up from $3.84 a week ago, according to AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report. A year ago the average price in Bellingham was $3.68 a gallon.
Bellingham's average price remains the most expensive major metro area in Washington, followed by Seattle, which had an average price of $3.91 a gallon. Spokane had the least expensive, at $3.77.
One factor in the rise is crude oil prices, which have climbed steadily in the past two weeks to more than $100 a barrel.
