Bellingham airport on pace for record year in passenger traffic

The Bellingham International Airport is on pace to set another record in terms of passenger traffic.

According to data gathered by the Port of Bellingham, 311,633 passengers flew out of the airport in the first six months of 2013, a 10.6 percent increase compared to the same period in 2012.

For all of 2012, the airport had 570,577 outbound passengers, up 11.5 percent compared to the previous year.

Allegiant Air had the most passengers flying out of Bellingham in the first six months of 2013, with 175,048, followed by Alaska/Horizon (133,215) and Frontier Airlines (3,370), which began its seasonal flights to Denver May 17.
