FLY FISHING: Program on chasing cutthroat, salmon

Blake Merwin, who owns and operates the Gig Harbor Fly Shop, will be the featured speaker at Thursday’s meeting of the Puget Sound Fly Fishers.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the Tower Lanes banquet room, 6323 Sixth Ave., Tacoma.

His presentation will focus on the gear, flies and techniques to use when fishing for searun cutthroat trout and salmon around Puget Sound. He’ll talk about places to go fly-fishing in the Sound. He also will talk about the growing popularity of kayak and standup paddleboard fly fishing.

A $15 dinner is offered at 6:30 p.m., before the presentation and the club’s regular monthly meeting.
