THE BELLINGHAM HERALDJuly 5, 2013

Alcoa Intalco Works is hosting a "Make an Impact Green Fair" on Tuesday, July 9, at its aluminum smelter near Ferndale.

The Alcoa Foundation is offering the fair in partnership with the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES), so employees and the public can learn about protecting the environment, saving energy and saving money, according to an Alcoa news release.

C2ES is the successor to the Pew Center on Global Climate Change.

The fair runs 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 4050 Mountain View Road and includes representatives from Sustainable Connections, RE Sources, the city of Bellingham and Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association.

Entry is free. There will be contests, giveaways and sustainable food vendors, as well.

People are encouraged to take an energy pledge or complete the Make an Impact carbon calculator online at http://alcoa.c2es.org/green-fairs. Enter the promo code "Ferndale" to be entered into a random drawing to win a $50 gift card.

Details are online at http://alcoa.c2es.org/green-fairs and at facebook.com/makeanimpact.
