Plenty of hills in Run to the Top

July 5, 2013

Put your running skills to the test during Run to the Top on July 13 at McKinley Park.

The July 13 Run to the Top is the second of four 5k events in Metro Parks Tacoma’s Pub Run Series. Each event is open to adults ages 21 and older and includes post-race festivities.

The Run to the Top has been called Tacoma’s toughest, most hilly 5k run. Participants will run through McKinley Park, 907 Upper Park St., using shaded 8-foot-wide trails.

A waterfall runs near the trails and might tempt some runners to forget the race clock and cool off.

After the race, participants will meet up for a celebration, trivia and prizes at the Top of Tacoma Bar and Cafe.

Entry fee includes a tech T-shirt plus a collector’s beer glass for the first 100 to pick up their packet. The cost is $25 per person or $35 the day of race (no T-shirt).

You can register for the 7 p.m. run at or in person at South Sound Running or at Metro Parks headquarters.
